Among many urban societies, we have been witnessing an unprecedented level of the singles population, an Op-Ed in the LA times says that “we’re in the midst of a global loneliness crisis”, loneliness is not only detrimental to our mental health but also our physical health. Half of the surveyed Americans scored as felt alone or left out on the UCLA Loneliness Scale. The op-ed asks that we help reduce loneliness by providing goods and services designed to alleviate loneliness and deliver connection.
While some people are willingly single and enjoy spending their time alone, some find it difficult to meet like-minded people that could potentially become a long-term companion.
This club, particles, will provide a haven and gathering space for those who are alone by choice, or because they find it difficult to find companionship but still wish to go out and enjoy activities outside of their homes.
This is where they might develop new friendships, in spaces that is designed to be less intimidating than other social places outside of this club.
With technological advancements we have also become accustomed to meeting new acquaintances through online platforms rather than in traditional manners. Our society has shifted towards online social connections and thus have become more physically alone. In accordance with this, our club members would all be connected through a social app and personal device during their visit that allows interaction among other members who are also physically inside the club, after members are matched and connected within the app, members can meet up in person to conduct a series of activities within the club activities can be simulated through the device first. This eliminates and expedites the current online dating process which requires two people to set a place, time, and location to meet in person. The spaces in the club is entirely designed to facilitate a sense of security and comfort where one can enjoy their time alone or receive a meaningful in person connection.

Visitors checks in at the lobby and can make their way into the different programs where they can dine, seek for new companionships within their own pods, or conduct any other activities provided in the club. After members are matched with others, they can meet up and conduct these activities together.
